Me and my son in the wood shop — where every Oak & Glow shelf begins.
A craft handed down
Woodworking has been a lifelong hobby of mine — not something I picked up, but something that was handed down to me. I learned it the way it has always been learned in our family: standing beside someone who knew more than I did, hands on the wood, making things that last.
It stayed a hobby for years, even while I served in the United States Marine Corps and eventually built a career in commercial construction. The workshop was where I went to slow down. And now it is where my kids are learning, the same way I did — that is my son beside me in the wood shop. The craft that was passed down to me is being passed down to them.
From our family to yours
Every shelf we build leaves our family’s workshop and becomes part of someone else’s home — and we do not take that lightly. It might hold what she reaches for every morning, the photos your family loves most, or a child’s favorite books at bedtime. It will be there for slow Sunday mornings and busy school nights, for holiday guests and quiet evenings in between.
That is why we build each one the way we would build it for our own home: carefully, honestly, and to last. When your family gathers around an Oak & Glow shelf — getting ready together in the morning, unwinding together at night — a little of our family’s craft becomes part of your family’s everyday life.
